NNCI Coordinating Office Visits SHyNE Resource
EVANSTON, IL – Prof. Oliver Brand and Dr. Nancy Healy, representatives from the NNCI Coordinating Office, visited the SHYNE Resource facilities at Northwestern University and the University of Chicago.
They met with the staff, experienced the collaborative nature of the SHyNE Resource, our amazing capabilities and techniques, our talented professional staff, our wonderful users, our education and outreach efforts, and the incredible research that flows through our facilities.
The two-day tour of SHyNE facilities included a meet and greet with technical staff and administrative staff, including Prof. Vinayak Dravid and Prof Chad Mirkin; walk though of the Northwestern University Micro/Nano Fabrication Facility (NUFAB), Integrated Molecular Structure Education and Research Center (IMSERC); lunch with external and internal super-users, along with Prof, Emily Weiss of the SHyNE Internal Steering Committee; and additional walk-throughs of the Northwestern University Atomic and Nanoscale Characterization Experimental (NUANCE) Center, X-Ray Diffraction Facility (XRD), Center for Atom Probe Technology (NUCAPT), and the Pritzker Nanofabrication Facility (PNF). The second day of the tour included visits to the Simpson Querrey Institute (SQI) Peptide Synthesis Core and the Analytical bioNano Technology Equipment Core (ANTEC).
SHyNE Resource was started in September of 2015 as part of the National Science Foundation's National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NCCI) and works to provide a national network of facilities to support external users.
